Stained glass home

Jenny began working with stained glass in 1991, whilst studying textiles at University in Manchester. Spurred on originally by a personal need to replace glass panels in her Victorian house, Jenny soon became interested in all forms of glass work.

Having graduated with a degree in Textiles, Economics and Management, Jenny went on to study for a PGCE which led to her becoming a Craft Design and Technology teacher in 1993. Meanwhile, Jenny continued to develop her skills in stained glass design and manufacture and started to take commissions in 1994.

Working initially full time and then part time as a CDT teacher, Jenny set up her own studio, Jenny Vyse Stained Glass and began to build a broad portfolio of work. Her abilities were recognised with a feature in The Independent Newspaper while a number of her hangings have been displayed and sold as part of the ‘British Crafts’ section of Liberty’s London store.

Jenny is comfortable to work closely with her clients to fulfil their specific design criteria. Equally she will compose her own pieces, originating designs and methods that will fit with the intended environment. Jenny has worked in both reproduction and contemporary styles and is well versed in producing pieces that are sympathetic to period properties. She is also happy to restore old broken windows.
